Mayor Khairullah settled with
his family in Prospect Park in 1991 as new immigrants
to the United States. After his father fell ill
in 1992 and as the oldest son in his family, Khairullah
was forced to work to support his family before
even graduating high school. Khairullah supported
himself and his family during his college years
getting his drive from the principles, of family,
dedication, hard work taught to him by his parents.
Khairullah ran for office in 2001 and became a
Councilman in January of 2002. He decided to run
for office because he thought it was the right
time to move his community involvement to the
next level.
